More than a building, more than a museumThe Museum Of Liverpool
The building shows that the art movement Rococo has been included into the design of the interior, which helped to show the previous style Baroque had not only had an influence with this movement but again with this museum. An influence of the surroundings played a part when it came to the design of this build. As Liverpool has such a historical background it is clear that this has been considered throughout


The heavily criticised Museum of Liverpool by Danish architects 3XN, which opened to the public last month.

The bulky dockside museum features huge projecting windows at either end, one facing towards the city centre and the other out across the River Mersey.

Limestone panels surround the facade and are shaped as zig-zagging diamonds on the side elevations, creating the illusion that the building has been stretched.

A staircase spirals up through an atrium at the heart of the museum, leading to three floors of galleries that exhibit social history and popular culture.
