Final Project - PLACE MAKING & SPACE SHAPING
Chosen brief; Camira Fabrics
In this time of uncertainty where re-evaluation of all that is necessary, relevant or desired, the textile supplier Camira Fabrics, a local company with far reaching international appeal, is considering options for alternative markets.
For this they are asking for proposals to design a ‘neutique hotel’ as a new market sector for Camira to develop. Within this brief you have two choices:
1. Design the Lobby and the Bar/Restaurant
2. Design the Lobby and suite of bedrooms [pay scale option clearly
identified; is it the budget suite, the mid range or penthouse?]Neutique hotels [design hotel / lifestyle hotel] offer a more intimate and unique option, that focuses and identifies niche customer groups, developing an individualised approach to design rather than a roll out, generic approach, which more commonly adopted.
This brief ‘Is all about the audience/user....’
You will need to research into a given customer, lifestyle profile; and develop key understanding of this niche audience group to help you to develop a project concept narrative, that will drive the decisions you make in the project not only aesthetically but functionally as well.
Heavy metal music listeners are stereotyped as long haired,
tattooed and drenched in leather and denim. Therefore the concept relates to
those who may have an interest with this genre yet don’t comply with the
appearance given by others. As Metel is situated in the business city of Leeds,
a high end market factor has also played a part within the interior. To capture
a link between the heavy metal niche market venues within the city a ‘jam
session’ space is provided to further attract live music without a performance
feel.
